CHA Webinar on Critical Healthcare and Mental Health Challenges in Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

Erica Smith, MPH, Executive Director of Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, recently contributed to a podcast from Catholic Health Association to discuss the ongoing collaborative efforts to support the Ukrainian people, drawing upon the collective strength of organizations such as ICMC, CHA, HSHS, and other Catholic partners.
Smith explained the details that went into assembling a 40-foot container of medical supplies and equipment that shipped to Ukraine in April. She said, “When the war in Ukraine broke out early in 2022, Mission Outreach, like many other medical surplus and recovery organizations like ours, were overwhelmed with requests to donate medical supplies and equipment. And it’s really key for us at any time, but particularly in times of crisis, that we make sure that our donation and process is done responsibly.”
The podcast also features Monsignor Robert Vitillo, Secretary General of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), and testimonies from two Ukrainian doctors who received support from Catholic partners.
