Expanded access for surgical procedures

September 01, 2022

HSHS St. Francis Hospital will be expanding the availability for area patients to access general and oncology provider appointments close to home. Dr. Chad Gonczy, general surgeon, will now be available beginning September 7, 2022, two days per week with clinic days on Wednesdays. Previously, he saw patients on the second floor and with limited appointments

“I’m proud we can provide additional availability for our patients to receive high-quality, patient-focused care when they need it and at a convenient and familiar location,” said Jim Timpe, president and chief executive officer of St. Francis Hospital.

Dr. Gonczy offers a broad range of general surgery and surgical oncology procedures. He particularly specializes in surgery for cancer of the gastrointestinal system, liver and pancreas. He performs traditional open procedures, laparoscopic procedures, and robotic surgery, as well as intraoperative ultrasound, ablation of tumors and endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Gonczy received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and then completed his residency in general surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at Duke University Medical Center.
