March 01, 2024

The HSHS St. Francis Foundation and its agriculture committee will host a Farm Family event on Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. The event is free and open to all farmers and their families who reside in Macoupin and Montgomery counties.

Complimentary health screenings will be available from 7 to 9 a.m. and will include a comprehensive blood profile that screens for anemia, infection, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, thyroid, liver, prostate, and kidney function; a skin cancer screening; an oral cancer screening; a hemoglobin A1C check; hearing, and blood pressure checks. Pre-registration is required for the screenings and may be made by contacting Crystal Lilley, St. Francis Hospital, at 217-324-8564 by March 14.

A hearty breakfast buffet will begin at 7:45 a.m. Beginning at 8:15 a.m., Jack Tosetti of Tosetti & Associates of Nokomis will discuss “Farm Business Planning.” A seasoned professional, Tosetti will share his 50 years of experience in the areas of property taxes, wills, trusts, estate planning and life insurance. Katie Wilson, manager of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, will present “News You Can Use,” updates on the programming and activities of the Farm Bureau.

Following their presentations, the event will conclude with the presentation of the St. Isidore Friend of Agriculture award, a special recognition award and drawings for door prizes.

“We hope this event will be beneficial to our area farmers by providing them with health screenings, timely information on agriculture issues, and a nice meal,” said Paula Endress, director of philanthropy for St. Francis Hospital. “We appreciate all the work of our agriculture committee members: Lou Ellen Anderson, Eric Helgen, Erik Hyam, Jean Jubelt, Jane Martin, Bill Montgomery, and Kevin Niemann in planning this event.”
