"Layette for Jesus" donations received from community

January 20, 2023

During the Christmas season, area organizations donated to HSHS St. Francis Hospital’s Family Maternity Center’s “Layette for Jesus” collection drive to support mothers who deliver at St. Francis and may need additional support and assistance as they care for their newborn.

Numerous organizations generously donated to the Family Birth Center. The donations ranged from baby outfits, diapers, wipes, blankets, bath care items, car seats and monetary donations. These donations will be used to assist families who deliver at St. Francis Hospital that are in need of assistance by providing them with necessary items to care for their babies.

Elisa Feldmann, RNC, nurse manager of the Family Maternity Center, and all the colleagues in the Family Maternity Center would like to thank the following organizations for their continued generous support of our littlest patients:

  • Burbaker Enterprises
  • Dal and Rosemary Hughes
  • Holy Family Parish-Litchfield
  • St. Agnes Parish-Hillsboro
  • VFW-Litchfield
  • Zion Lutheran-Bunker Hill
  • Zion Lutheran-Litchfield

The Family Maternity Center was recently re-designated as a Level I Perinatal Facility by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). This designation highlights St. Francis’ continued commitment to providing quality care for perinatal patients.

The Family Maternity Center is also designated a Silver Safe Sleep Hospital through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver organization and Cribs for Kids Program. It is also a Certified Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, one of only approximately 600 designated hospitals in the U.S. The initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
