Meals delivered to local farmers

October 24, 2022

The HSHS St. Francis Foundation Leadership Council and its agriculture committee delivered 60 healthy box lunches to area farmers on Friday, Oct. 21. The group delivers the lunches twice per year, once during spring planting and once during harvest season. Friday’s lunch distribution was held to also honor the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of St. Francis Hospital.

Victory Lane Ford sponsored the cost of the lunches. Paula Endress, HSHS St. Francis Hospital’s director of philanthropy, shared, “We are so grateful to our farmers for all they do and pray for their safety during this harvest season. We thank Gene and Stephanie Hebenstreit and Victory Lane Ford for their contribution that provided the lunches and to all the volunteers for delivering them. Thank you as well to Father John Hannigan, who offered a blessing for the meals prior to the volunteers delivering the meals.”

Some of the lunches were delivered by Gene Hebenstreit, owner of Victory Lane Ford, who drove the newest electric truck to deliver them which created lots of excitement by the farmers who enjoyed viewing the truck as well as eating the lunches.
