Wound Care Center held ribbon cutting

HSHS St. Francis Hospital held a ribbon cutting and blessing on June 29, 2022, of the recently opened Wound Care Center. The hospital partnered with Healogics, the nation’s leading provider of advanced, chronic wound care, and started seeing patients in early March 2022. The center is located on the first floor of the hospital at 1215 Franciscan Drive in Litchfield.
The blessing was given by Father Daniel Willenborg, of St. Francis pastoral care department, and the ribbon cutting was coordinated with the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce. International Filter Manufacturing also donated locally produced hospital masks for the event.
Those attending included St. Francis Hospital President and CEO Jim Timpe and other senior leaders, Wound Care Clinic staff, St. Francis Hospital board members Steve Bryant, Jane Martin and Marchelle Kasenbaum, 2022 Miss Montgomery County Madalynn Kraus, 2022 Jr. Miss Montgomery County Ady Fergurson, 2022 Little Miss Montgomery County Sawyer Spencer, Litchfield Chamber members, city officials and many hospital colleagues.
St. Francis President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Timpe notes, “The decision to start an outpatient center, devoted exclusively to wound care, reflects our commitment to a need in the community to address an overall increase in chronic non-healing wounds. I’m proud we can offer easy access to these proven therapies conveniently within our facility.”
Patients who could benefit from treatment at the Wound Healing Center are those suffering from wounds that haven't healed within a reasonable time frame, diabetic ulcers or pressure ulcers, infections, compromised skin grafts. The Wound Care Center is designed to complement the services offered by patients’ primary care physicians – in fact, it can be thought of as an extension of their physician’s practice.
The highly trained team uses the most up-to-date treatments to create a program specifically tailored to the patient’s needs to provide the most effective approach, which may include:
- Vascular evaluation
- Debridement
- Laboratory evaluation
- Infectious disease management
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Lymphedema therapy
- Edema management
- Nutritional management
- Pain management
- Diabetic education
- Nuclear medicine
- Radiology
- Home health services
- Ostomy management
