Free and safe disposal of unused or expired medicine available to community

HSHS St. John’s Hospital Community Pharmacy is now a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registered Drug Take Back site, providing community members with a free and safe way to dispose of unused or expired prescription and nonprescription medicines.
The Drug Take Back box is located in the lobby of HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s Community Pharmacy at 400 N. Ninth Street, Suite 1500 in Springfield. The pharmacy is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Before disposing of prescription medicines, be sure to remove all personal information on pill bottle labels and medicine packings. All medicine dropped off at the lime green Drug Take Back box will be destroyed.
