This program is part of the “Healing Southern Illinois: Revealing and Embodying Racial Healing for All People” project, which promotes racial healing for all through reflection and conversation. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of racial healing in his “I Have a Dream” speech provides a framework for the series of one-hour virtual community Zoom presentations and conversations. Each presenter will speak for the first half hour and the second half hour will be a conversation among speaker, HSHS colleagues from the four hospitals in Southern Illinois and community members from the region to provide training and education that promotes racial healing for all.

The monthly series will culminate in June with a panel discussion offering perspectives on the degree to which Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech has been realized and what is critical to include in a Juneteenth speech today. Program dates, speakers and topics will be announced on HSHS Southern Illinois hospital websites and social media.

This program is funded by Illinois DHS Healing Illinois in partnership with the Field Foundation of Illinois and Southern Illinois Community Foundation (SICF).
