The 12-month Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program with Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is designed to provide the resident with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be a leader in pharmacy informatics and health information technology. The flexibility and wide variety of opportunities allow for the program to be individually tailored to the interests of the resident. Rotation opportunities include clinical informatics, vendor relations, pharmacy automation, health system informatics and administration, supply chain operations, evidence-based medicine, patient safety, quality, and regulatory operations.

Upon completion of the residency, the resident will be proficient in pharmacy informatics at a multi-facility health care system.

In addition to learning about informatics, the resident has opportunities to be involved with teaching through our affiliation with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Pharmacy. The resident can earn a teaching certificate through SIUE, and will receive an adjunct clinical faculty appointment with the school.

Accreditation

The Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s has received full accreditation by ASHP. The residency is based out of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois, which is located about 20 miles east of St. Louis. HSHS St. Elizabeth’s is part of a multi-institutional health care system that sponsors 13 hospitals across Illinois and Wisconsin.
