Specialized services to make surgery less scary for kids

Young girl swinging

Coming to the hospital for surgery or other procedures can be scary for kids. So, St. Elizabeth’s surgery caregivers try to add some familiar items to help ease their apprehensiveness.

Making your child's visit special

Each child receives a special teddy bear to be their surgery ‘buddy’ that they can have with them while they are at the hospital and take home after their outpatient procedure.

The surgery department also has a special red wagon to take our pediatric patients down the hallway to the operating room. Instead of being a little child on a big adult stretcher in an unknown situation, the wagon is more familiar to them.
