Families Invited to Celebrate the Joy of Breastfeeding

For many families, breastfeeding is a cherished experience of love, learning and connection.
HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital will host “Supporting Your Journey: World Breastfeeding Week Celebration” on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon in the lobby of the Children’s Hospital. The free event will kick off World Breastfeeding Week by connecting parents and support persons with education, encouragement and local lactation resources.
“We love creating opportunities for families to come together, ask questions and feel cared for,” said Jen Beauchamp, BSN, RN, CLC, CPST, Patient and Community Educator, Women and Infants Center, HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital. “Breastfeeding can be a beautiful journey, and having the right support can make it even more meaningful.”
Attendees can:
Light snacks and refreshments will be available. The event will also include a photo backdrop, giveaways while supplies last, prizes, a raffle drawing and a children’s activity area.

- Meet with the lactation team to ask questions
- Learn about breast pump basics
- Get information on cluster feeding and growth spurts
- Learn how partners and support systems can help
- Explore new mom resources, mental health support and self-care while breastfeeding
