Your Future. Our Mission.

HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital is embarking on a $17.2 million Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) renovation to provide critically ill newborns and their loved ones a more modern, comfortable and spacious care environment.

Our Vision

With a NICU team that provides extraordinary care every day, this investment is about enhancing the physical space that care is provided in and making it more comfortable for our littlest patients and the families who love them.

The design for our new NICU draws inspiration from Wisconsin's natural landscapes, the same spirit that shapes our Northwoods-themed pediatric emergency center and our waterways-themed PICU and pediatric unit. Inside the NICU, that connection to nature will take the form of meadows to create moments of calm and reflection. Like a sunrise over a meadow, this theme represents a new beginning for families and the care teams who walk alongside them.

Updates will include modern elements that meet the unique needs of NICU patients, families and medical experts:

  • Private and semi-private rooms to provide families more space, privacy and comfort.
  • A calm, soothing environment that helps heal the whole person: mind, body and spirit.
  • Optimized work areas for clinicians to provide the best possible care and support, while also giving families the space they need to be with their little ones.
