Medical Care
St. Anthony’s Medical Care department treats patients who have a variety of conditions including cardiac, respiratory or infectious conditions, diabetic patients, cancer patients requiring pain management, patients needing end of life care, and any patients who need outpatient services that cannot be accommodated in Same Day Surgery or the Procedure suites.
Medical Care serves a wide range of age groups, from adolescent through geriatric patients, with many patients coming from area nursing homes. The primary diagnoses for patients include pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, rehabilitation, gastrointestinal disorders and chest pain.
The Medical Care department also offers many opportunities for student learning. The department currently accepts Lake Land nursing students from both the RN and LPN programs and offers clinical experience to Health Occupation students. Dietary and respiratory therapy students also spend clinical time in the department.
The goal of the Medical Care department is to focus on the age-specific needs of the patient, providing individualized and interdisciplinary care.
