The specially trained stroke team at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital provides rapid access to care with specialty expertise and written care protocols to provide individualized attention for patients. When a stroke occurs because of a blocked blood vessel in the brain, treatment for eligible patients with a clot-busting medicine to open up the blockage is very time-critical, our team is ready to act quickly.

Stroke prevention is a high priority at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center. We often conduct free community stroke screenings and education each year, as well as provide a robust diagnostic and stroke risk management program. Visit our calendar of events to learn more about upcoming events.

Safe driving assessments are available to patients who have experienced physical changes due to age or disability, such as stroke, arthritis or Parkinson’s, or mental changes, such as slower reflexes, memory issues and/or difficulty maintaining focus.
 
Stroke support group
The Northeast Wisconsin Stroke Support Group is open to stroke survivors , caregivers, family and friends. The purpose of the Stroke Support Group is to Promote an increased understanding of stroke through written materials and guest speakers, sharing of concerns by stroke sufferers and their caregivers, as well as opportunities for increased community involvement and social interaction.

The group typically meets the second Thursday of every month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Please call (920) 433-0111 to verify, as schedule does change.

Brain injury support group
The brain injury support group offers assistance to those who have sustained a brain injury due to trauma, as wewll as their friends and family members. Those who attend receive education, information, support, ecouragement and opportunities for socialization.
