Share Walk for Remembrance and Hope

Share’s Walk for Remembrance & Hope takes place in October, which is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The event commemorates the lives of babies lost due to miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death.

With caution and care, we are making plans for our sixth annual Decatur community walk to be held Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m. beginning in the Nelson Park Pavilion #2. This walk along the lake shore will include a memorial service to remember our babies (each child’s name will be read), and also to celebrate each life, no matter how long or short.

As we gather together to walk in honor of our babies, we keep memories alive and offer support to one another. Whether a recent loss, or one that occurred several years ago, we encourage parents and loved ones to come walk the steps our babies will never take.

Registration

Thank you for your interest in registering for the 2021 Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope! Please complete the registration form and mail to HSHS St. Mary’s Foundation. All registered participants will receive one program and all walk activities.

Registration fee: $10 (only one fee per household required)
T-shirts: $15 each (optional)

To allow time for the entire list of babies’ names to be printed in the memorial program, registration forms MUST be returned by September 24. This event will occur rain or shine; however, in cases of extreme weather, St. Mary’s may cancel for participant safety. No refunds will be issued due to cancellation.

Donations will support HSHS St. Mary’s Share program. Also, per CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, social distancing and wear face coverings.

Share Support Group

The Share support group is for parents who have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy, at birth or in early infancy.

Share is a support group in which healing is slowly and gently promoted. Parents gain insight and understanding, vent their feelings in an accepting atmosphere and reach out to the newly bereaved. Individuals may express their religious feelings, attitudes, or experiences in group discussions; however, Share is non-denominational. What is important is an acceptance of each individual as he/she is.
