Applications being accepted for 2-week paid RN internship

Interns work on nursing skills/documentation alongside fulltime nurses while learning clinical and professional skills
 
HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is now accepting applications for a two-week paid registered nurse (RN) internship to be held Dec. 11-23, 2022. The RN internship program is designed for nursing students to gain real-life experience in a health care setting during their winter break. 

Interns will be paired with nurses full time to work on nursing skills and documentation while learning clinical and professional skills. The program also offers new RNs opportunities to be hired in their areas of interest and specialty units upon graduation.

This internship opportunity provides practical work experience for clinical students in an environment that emphasizes patient-centered care, while exposing the interns to innovative and emerging concepts in health care practice. 

“Health care is a challenging career with so many benefits,” said Autumn McCormick, RN, BSN, manager of ICU, outpatient IV therapy, and clinical education at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. “Students need more exposure to their future career to gain the knowledge needed to be successful.  The internships offer a glimpse of what life will look like after graduation, offering a light at the end of the tunnel,” she explained. 

“Our 2022 summer internship was a huge success, with 17 interns growing in skills, patient interactions and connections, and gaining knowledge needed to complete their education and start their careers.  Our clinical education partners have noticed a positive difference in our summer intern graduates,” McCormick shared. “This winter RN internship will be a shortened version of the summer internship to accommodate school and holiday schedules.  We look forward to working with our next group of interns and hope they become our future team members.

This paid internship is open to RN students graduating in May 2023. St. Anthony’s will work around interns’ class and final exam schedules.
