HSHS St. Joseph's Auxiliary Raises $30,000

June 27, 2025

The HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Auxiliary recently gifted $30,000 to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation to support the purchase of vital medical equipment and comfort items across several departments within the hospital.

The annual donation from the Auxiliary helps the hospital buy necessary equipment and essentials that improve patient experience. This year’s funds will go toward a variety of departments, equipment and projects including a therapy machine in Outpatient Rehabilitation, an ultrasound probe in the Specialty Clinic, a vital signs machine and cardiac monitor on the Med/Surg unit and new stretcher mattresses for enhanced patient comfort during exams and transport.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Auxiliary’s continued support and generosity,” said David Garris, Director of HSHS Southern Illinois Foundations. “These contributions help us respond quickly to evolving equipment needs and improve both the safety and experience of our patients.”

The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization committed to promoting and advancing the welfare of St. Joseph’s through public relations, service and fundraising. Projects include the annual Used Book Fair, hospital Gift Shop, quilt raffles, flower and bundt cake sales, in-kind gifts for patients and volunteer support at hospital events.
