August 28, 2026

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese recently installed a new MRI scanner, the Siemens Mangetom Sola 1.5T with BioMatrix patient personalization technology. This new system provides high-quality images while helping make MRI exams faster and more comfortable for patients.

One important service this new scanner supports is breast MRI. Erin Kuhn, Radiology Manager at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese shares, “For some women, an MRI scan is needed in addition to a mammogram. We are proud to offer this service to the women in our community, giving them access to advanced breast imaging close to home.”

The new scanner and MRI room also include features designed to improve patient comfort, including:
  • A wider scanner opening to help patients feel more comfortable during their exam.
  • Advanced technology that adapts to each patient’s body size and shape, helping provide high-quality images and consistent results.
  • The ability to listen to music during the scan for a more personalized experience.
  • A newly renovated MRI room featuring a calming mural to help create a relaxing environment.
“We know that getting an MRI can be uncomfortable for some patients. This new scanner gives us higher quality images, which means less time in the machine, fewer callbacks and an overall better patient experience,” said Kuhn.

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital is now scheduling patients for this new MRI scanner. Ask your provider to schedule your next imaging need at St. Joseph’s in Breese.
