Star Lighting ceremony set for Dec. 1

November 08, 2022

At HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, the holidays are celebrated with our Star Lighting ceremony. Each light on the star that sits atop the hospital honors a loved one. We’ll celebrate those special people in a beautiful ceremony filled with music and prayer.

This year we will once again be lighting the star and broadcasting the event on COZI TV at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2022, as well as streaming the event on NowDecatur.com.

“This event and the meaning behind it has become a favorite tradition of mine, as it is for many in our community,” said Julie Moore, executive director of philanthropy, advocacy and community relations. “This is a great way to honor your loved ones and keep their memory alive.”

If you would like to honor or memorialize a loved one, visit stmarysdecatur.com/donate to purchase a light, and to help us celebrate the unofficial start of the Christmas season. To ensure your loved one’s name is added to the list of tributes, please make your gift by Friday, November 18.

All gifts will go toward patient care needs of St. Mary’s Hospital.

For more information on the Star Lighting or the Hospital Foundation, call Shelli Brunner at 217-464-2520.
