In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, HSHS continues to add to our staffing float pool to ensure we are prepared and ready to treat a potential surge in patients with COVID-19. As a member of the Staffing Float Pool Team, you will provide ad hoc assistance in a clinical capacity as needed at your designated HSHS facility. We’re looking for the following temporary – per diem/PRN positions: RNs and CNAs

Volunteering for HSHS St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center is a wonderful way to provide a helping hand to those in need. Thank you for your interest in giving back to our community.

Current Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Clerical assistance: Miscellaneous clerical duties such as data entry, filing, copying, assisting with bulk mailings and special projects as needed

  • Early Childhood Center: Provide classroom assistance - based on need

  • Eucharistic Ministers/Pastoral Care – distribute communion to hospitalized patients, usually volunteer on a monthly and/or weekly basis (Pre-requisite: Must be commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers within your parish)

  • Gift Shop Volunteer: Provide a friendly shopping experience for patients, visitors and colleagues

  • Patient Registration escort: Provide assistance escorting patients and visitors to their scheduled appointments

  • Shipping and Receiving

  • Student volunteers: Students must be at least 16 years old and commit to performing a minimum of 50 hours of annual service to qualify to volunteer at the hospital

It is our top priority to make sure that the patients in our hospitals and the people in our community stay safe and are protected from possible infection. You will be informed of safety protocols and procedures.

General Information

Volunteers are key members of the HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center family. They help carry out the hospital’s healing mission while demonstrating the hospital’s values of Respect, Care, Competence, and Joy. Volunteers serve in 15 different areas of the hospital. Some have regularly scheduled hours while others serve “on-call” for special projects.

The partners of HSHS St. Vincent/St. Mary’s Hospitals is a special group of volunteers who socialize as well as perform service in the hospital. Partners run the hospital Gift Shop and sponsor other fund-raising activities such as Hats Off, Fashions from the Heart fall fashion show, uniform sales, and book fairs. The group meets for breakfast or luncheons and welcomes both active and associate members.

Requirements:

  • Be of good character and willing to serve

  • Complete an application, Background Information Disclosure form and Tuberculosis Screening and Surveillance Questionnaire

  • Must have a TB test, immunization history for MMR and Varicella and annual flu shot upon acceptance of position – courtesy of the hospital

  • Must attend a required in-service training once a year

  • Complete an Education Packet

  • Complete a Background Information Disclosure form

  • Abide by the rules and regulations of the hospital

  • Sharing your time, helping others
