Half-Million-Dollar Hospital Donation Breaks Record
February 20, 2026
In a powerful demonstration of generosity and community spirit, the HSHS Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary presented a historic $500,000 gift to HSHS Holy Family Hospital Foundation. This is the largest donation in the Auxiliary’s history, eclipsing the previous record by $25,000.
“The Auxiliary’s dedication to our community and hospital is unmatched,” said Teresa Cornelius, Chief Administrative Officer of Holy Family Hospital. “To be able to provide funds to the hospital while also giving our community affordable options for clothes, toys, entertainment and just about anything you can imagine, is something to be admired.”
Since the Thrift Shop opened in 1990, the Auxiliary has contributed nearly $10 million to advance patient care through investments in technology, facility enhancements and critical equipment. This latest half-million-dollar gift will support a range of equipment needs across multiple departments, further strengthening the hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality, compassionate care close to home.
Along with the check presentation, the Holy Family Auxiliary recognized the retirement of outgoing Auxiliary board president Sharon Ahern, and welcomed incoming board president, Janet Gum.
“The support from the Auxiliary continues to making a lasting impact on our hospital and the patients we serve,” said Cornelius. “This generous gift will support important equipment and projects across our hospital, and we are incredibly grateful for Sharon’s leadership and the Auxiliary’s many years of support.”
