HSHS St. Elizabeth's Foundation supports the Hospital Sisters’ of St. Francis mission of ministering to those in need of quality health care. St. Elizabeth’s Foundation supports this mission by inviting individuals to share their gifts of time, talent, and financial assistance in support of the healing mission of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

An investment in the mission of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is an investment in the future of the greater Metro East community. Contributing to St. Elizabeth’s Foundation, ensures that health care will be available to those who need it, when they need it - family, friends, and neighbors. Through philanthropy and community partnerships, St. Elizabeth’s Foundation strengthens the mission of the Hospital Sisters by providing additional means of financial support for health care services and equipment.

Why give to HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Foundation?

As a non-profit hospital, we rely on generous contributions from people just like you to help us to achieve our mission. Whether it entails welcoming our youngest patients as they open their eyes to a new world, offering the most technologically advanced screening equipment, or monitoring crucial vital signs and sleep patterns, you can be assured that donations to St. Elizabeth's Foundation are making a difference.

Many positive investments in equipment and our facility are possible through the gracious donations of both the public and our own colleagues. One such investment made to better serve our patients, was the purchase of a second 3D Mammography Unit with funds donated by the HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital Foundation.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. About one in eight (12%) women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital continues to invest in the latest technologies to encourage early detection through annual mammograms.

Donor Recognition

Located on the main floor of the hospital, the Foundation recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations that have generously given to the healthcare needs of the community we serve. Donors may request to remain anonymous to the public.

Ways to Give

Charitable Trusts

Charitable trusts are another option for donors who wish to make a current or deferred gift to St. Elizabeth's Hospital but are concerned about retaining an income from the asset. Charitable trusts can provide donors with regular cash payments, current charitable income tax deduction, avoidance or reduction of estate taxes and elimination of money-management concerns. *Giving through such arrangements can be a meaningful way to blend your philanthropic goals with your personal financial and tax-planning needs. Charitable trusts are set up through an outside advisor such as through a trust department of a bank. It is important that you let us know if St. Elizabeth's Hospital is a beneficiary of a trust agreement so we may thank you and recognize your gift appropriately.

Endowment

An endowment is an amount of money that is given to St. Elizabeth's Foundation with a stipulation that the funds are invested to earn annual interest rather than spent immediately. A portion of the annual earnings is used to support programs within St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. An endowment can be restricted to a specific department or unrestricted to be used for the greatest need. Named endowments are a gracious way to honor an individual loved one or a family name. A minimum of $10,000 is required to establish a named endowment. Gifts Made Through a Will

Members of the Heritage Society have arranged for a charitable bequest – a gift made from an estate, after death, or as a result of instructions outlined in a will. Bequests can be of a specific dollar amount, a specific asset or assets or for a percentage of an estate. If you choose to give a gift to St. Elizabeth's Hospital through your will, you can make your bequest available for our immediate use or you may restrict it to endowment. With endowment gifts, a portion of the investment earnings are used to fulfill the stated purpose of the gift. Please contact the Foundation office for the proper way to list St. Elizabeth's Hospital in your estate.

Honor Your Caregiver with a Gift of Gratitude

St. Elizabeth’s caregivers make a difference every day. They offer a hand to hold, give a reassuring smile, go an extra step and share encouraging words. Simple gestures of kindness often mean the most to us. A gift of gratitude or a donation to HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital can be made in honor of a physician, nurse or staff member who made a difference in your care or that of a family member. Gifts to St. Elizabeth’s Foundation allow us to provide high quality compassionate care to our patients. Life insurance

Sometimes people no longer need a life insurance policy they purchased when they were younger to protect a growing family and/or they have accumulated ample assets necessary to meet day-to-day financial demands. In this case, the cash value of a life insurance policy as a charitable gift may make sense. Donors may also establish new cash value policies on themselves and deduct the premiums as long as St. Elizabeth's Hospital is named owner and beneficiary of the policy. Matching Gifts

Matching gifts occur when a Company matches the charitable contribution of an employee to a nonprofit organization. If you (or your spouse) work for a matching gift company, your gift may be doubled, or even tripled. The Matching gift procedure is very simple. The employee gets a matching gift form from their human resources department. After completing the form, the employee sends it along with their gift to St. Elizabeth's Foundation. (You may also send in the form after you have made the gift.) St. Elizabeth's Hospital confirms on the form that it has received the gift and meets the company’s guidelines for receiving a matching gift. St. Elizabeth's Hospital then returns the form to the company. The company verifies eligibility of the employee and sends a check to St. Elizabeth's Foundation. Memorial and Honor Gifts

Gifts of any size to St. Elizabeth's Hospital can be made in honor or in memory of someone. Donors make gifts to remember a loved one, to recognize a physician or another caregiver at the hospital or to celebrate a special occasion. If you wish to make a gift in honor of someone, please include the name of the person as well as the contact information (name and address) for any person who we can notify of your thoughtfulness.
