The HSHS St. John’s Hospital Laboratory provides high quality, accurate and timely diagnostic pathology and laboratory services for hospital patients, outpatients and outreach patients in community physicians’ offices. It has a highly skilled team of board certified pathologists, certified medical laboratory scientists and technicians, cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, lab assistants and phlebotomists who participate in continuing education on a regular basis.

Patients coming to the hospital between the hours of 5 a.m. - 6 p.m., should go to the main lobby to register for lab services. Registration is required.

After 6 p.m. and on weekends/holidays, patients should go to the Emergency Department to register.

Point of care testing

In addition to CLIA certification the HSHS St. John’s Hospital Laboratory voluntary accreditations include the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks. 

Prepatory measures and results

Some blood tests do require fasting prior to having your blood drawn. Please contact your health care provider or the HSHS St. John’s Lab to determine requirements for your specific testing.

Laboratory results are available through your physician, HSHS St. John’s Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department and the MyHSHS app.
