1903 | The New St. Mary's Hospital Opens
The history of St. Mary’s begins in 1900 with the arrival of the Sisters of Misericorde to Green Bay. They cared for unwed mothers and their babies in an abandoned home, which they called their “creche,” on the city’s east side. Three years later, the Sisters of Misericorde opened St. Mary’s Hospital on July 3, 1903 to expand their care offerings. St. Mary’s Hospital included a school for nurses to provide education and help staff the facility.
