Annual Share Walk set for October 11

September 19, 2025

For ten years, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital has supported families grieving the loss of a baby with its annual Share Walk for Remembrance and Hope. This year marks a special milestone as the hospital hosts the 10th anniversary of the walk on Saturday, Oct. 11, in recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

The event will take place at Nelson Park Pavilion #2 with registration and family activities beginning at 9 a.m. The memorial service and lake shore walk will begin at 10 a.m., offering a time for remembrance, connection and healing.

Each year, the Share Walk honors the lives of babies lost due to miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death. The event includes a heartfelt memorial service in which each child’s name is lovingly read aloud, affirming that every life matters deeply.

“This walk has become a sacred tradition for many families in our community,” said Karla Marshall, Supervisor of Spiritual Care and Mission for HSHS Central Illinois Market. “For ten years, we’ve come together to say these children are not forgotten. Their lives have left lasting imprints on our hearts.”

Families are encouraged to register by Sept. 22 to ensure their baby’s name is included in the printed program and memorial reading. To register, contact Karla Marshall at [email protected] or 217-464-2045.

Join us as we walk in remembrance, in hope and in celebration of ten years of honoring little lives that made a big impact.
