Community Invited to National Donor Sabbath Service on November 14

November 11, 2025

HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will host a special National Donor Sabbath Service on Friday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Chapel, honoring organ and tissue donors, their families, and all who have been touched by the gift of donation.

The annual observance offers a time of reflection, prayer and gratitude for those who have given or received organs and tissues, those who continue to wait and those who have passed. The service will include a blessing, candle lighting and words of remembrance and hope.

Honored guests include representatives from Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, Memorial Health, ImpactLife, Eversight, and local donor families.

“The National Donor Sabbath reminds us of the incredible compassion and courage shown through organ and tissue donation,” said Tami Pruetzel, Donation Liaison with Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. “We gather to honor donors and their families whose generosity brings healing and hope to others, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to saving lives through donation.”

The National Donor Sabbath encourages leaders from faith communities, donor families, transplant recipients, and donation advocates across the nation to come together each November to remember, to give thanks, and to inspire others to register as donors. Local donation partners will be present at the service to share information and resources with attendees.
