Millikin University and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital are partnering once again to bring breast cancer awareness to the football field during the Real Men Wear Pink game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field as the Big Blue take on Illinois Wesleyan University.

The game will highlight breast cancer education, support and survivorship through several special activities:

  • Free admission for all cancer survivors
  • On-site information about women’s health and breast cancer services offered at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital
  • 5 p.m. tailgate and tent in south endzone sponsored by HSHS St. Mary's Hospital

“Breast cancer has touched my life in a very personal way as a two-time survivor, and I know how meaningful it is to feel the support of your community,” said Lori Kerans, Vice President for Athletics and Community Engagement at Millikin University. “Bringing this message to the football field gives us an opportunity to celebrate and support survivors, as well as encourage the women in our lives to make their health a priority.”

The event will bring fans and the community together to support those affected by breast cancer while highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection and access to care.

“Partnerships like this help us reach people where they live, work and gather in the community,” said Valerie Jordan, Manager of Oncology Services at St. Mary’s Hospital. “We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate survivors while encouraging women to take an active role in their breast health and learn more about the resources available to them.”

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game in support of breast cancer awareness. Accessible parking is available at the north stadium entrance off Eldorado Street.
