Sports Physicals Available for Student-Athletes

April 23, 2025

Sports physicals play an important role in your child’s development and are often required to participate in organized sports. HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital AthletiCare is offering $25 cash sports physicals on-site at several school districts in the Macon County area.

“Sports physicals help us learn your child’s baseline for health, detect potential health issues and help address any specific concerns,” said Dustin Fink, Athletic Trainer at St. Mary’s Hospital. “We wanted to make it as convenient as possible for parents and students to access these essential exams by offering them for a low-cost, in the evening and at your school.”

Sports physicals are available for students entering grades 5, 7, 8, 10 and 12 during the ’25 – ’26 school year. Events are planned at the following schools:
  • Unity Christian School – May 12, 4 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Mt. Zion High School – May 30, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Warrensburg-Latham High School – June 13, 4 - 5:30 p.m.
  • MacArthur High School – August 11, 4:30 - 6 p.m.

Additionally, the Stone Thrown Forward Foundation will provide an additional heart screening if needed. Stone Thrown Forward Foundation was formed in memory of Kyle Stone, a former athlete and graduate of Maroa-Forsyth High School who passed from an undiagnosed cardiac condition in 2014.

Student-athletes from any school may attend any event. Parents are encouraged to print out and pre-fill out the IHSA/IESA sports physical forms. Physicals provided at these events are good for 13 months.
