HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital continues to enhance and modernize its surgical services department with robotic surgical systems.

These surgical assets represent the latest in surgical and robotic technologies. While these surgical systems enhance your surgeon's skillset and often improve patient-recovery, your surgeon is still 100% in control of the robot at all times.

Da Vinci Surgical Systems

HSHS St. Mary's is hope to several da Vinci surgical robots, including the da Vinci 5, the newest and most advanced robot in the da Vinci portfolio.

Our da Vinci systems are used for a wide range of procedures, including:

  • Gallbladder surgery
  • General surgery
  • Gynecologic surgery
  • Hernia repair (non-hiatal)
  • Urologic surgery

Enhanced Surgical Precision

With the da Vinci Surgical System with Firefly Technology, surgeons operate through just a few small incisions. The da Vinci System features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control.

The FireflyTM Fluorescence Imaging system allows your surgeon to identify vessels and tissue that otherwise couldn’t be seen by the human eye. Firefly combines a special video camera and a dye that binds to proteins to make those vessels and tissue visible during minimally invasive surgical procedures using the da Vinci.

Benefits of Robotic Surgery

  • Smaller incisions with less scarring
  • Less pain, less bleeding, and less trauma to your body
  • Lower chance of needing traditional open surgery
  • Faster recovery and return to normal life
