St. John’s College of Nursing has joined the global Giving Tuesday effort and asks the community to consider donating to the college this holiday season.

With funds donated this Giving Tuesday, St. John’s College of Nursing will be able to fund six Simple Susie Patient Care Simulators. These patient simulators give the nursing students the experience of working with real patients before stepping foot into the hospital. By giving to the college, you can be assured that your donation is making a difference for students, their families and the community.

“Donors allow us to provide a quality nursing education to all our students,” said Charlene Aaron, chancellor of St. John’s College of Nursing. “When donors generously fund projects like the addition of equipment to our Simulation Lab, they enable the college to continue its strides to keep tuition affordable while providing the very best educational experience in the region. The current nation-wide nursing staff shortage makes it even more important to provide our community with well-educated, experienced nurses. I thank all our donors for giving St. John’s College of Nursing the opportunity to do just that.”

Giving Tuesday marks a global day dedicated to giving back. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29, 2022, charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world come together to celebrate generosity and helping others. Giving Tuesday is held annually after the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate to improve their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to charities and other causes.

“I am so thankful for the education I received at St. John’s College of Nursing and the scholarship and opportunities I was given with donations from our community,” said Robin Hickman Wells, APRN, CNP, St. John’s College of Nursing alumna, class of 2000. “When I was a student at St. John’s, we did not have the modern simulation center like the students do now. I am excited for the opportunity this new equipment will give students and thankful for the donors who will make it happen.”

St. John’s College of Nursing is a nonprofit organization. The college’s mission is to provide quality nursing and professional health degrees and programs consistent with Hospital Sisters of St. Francis’ tradition that foster the learner’s spiritual, ethical and professional development.
