Admission & Application Requirements

  1. Completed application accompanied by nonrefundable $60 fee.
  2. Earned master's in nursing from a nationally accredited ACEN or CCNE program.
  3. Submission of official transcripts from all post-secondary schools where college credit was earned, not just degree-granting institutions, showing:
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 preferred in MSN courses.
    • Good academic standing at the last institution attended.​
  4. Active and unencumbered registered nurse (or APRN) license in the state where practicum hours will be completed.

5. Three professional recommendations that attest to the applicant’s academic ability, professional competency and personal character.

6. Personal essay (one page, double-spaced, 11 to 12 font size), describing applicant’s goals for the DNP program and potential project topic.

7. Resume or CV must be submitted with the application.

8. Personal interview (in person or via virtual technology) with faculty.

Support Services

Student support is available with information technology and laptop set up. Program length is four semesters full-time (fall, spring and summer the first year; then the final fall) or six semesters part-time (fall, spring, summer the first year; fall, spring, summer the second year).

The Health Sciences Library at HSHS St. John’s Hospital has an extensive collection of databases. Our experienced librarian, along with a strong complement of doctoral faculty, are available to support students with research. Information technology services are available 24/7 as well.
