Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
degree offered online with Practicum component
St. John’s College is happy to announce the start of its DNP program in the fall of 2022! The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is a 34 (37 with independent study if needed) credit semester hour post -master’s program that will be offered online with a practicum component.
A doctoral degree is often required to teach graduate nursing education, and many states are moving to requiring a DNP degree as a minimum credential for an APRN license.
The length of time for students to complete the DNP program is four semesters full-time, or six semesters part-time. The program is approved by The Higher Learning Commission and anticipates receiving ACEN initial accreditation in fall 2023 to enable the first cohort of students to graduate from an accredited program.
With accreditation approval, a student can also be enrolled into a BSN-DNP program, a 63 credit hour program for those interested in the Nursing Leadership and Administration masters track or 69 credit hours for those following the Family Nurse Practitioner track.
