Affording Your Nursing Education—With Help That Works for You

Whether you're starting your BSN, returning as a working RN, or pursuing a graduate degree, St. John’s College offers several ways to support your tuition needs beyond scholarships and grants.

Employer Tuition Assistance & Reimbursement

If you're employed by a healthcare organization—especially within the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS)—you may be eligible for tuition assistance or full tuition reimbursement.

  • Complete the Education Assistance Application in its entirety at https://hshs.tuition.io/dashboard 
    • Gather required documents, which include the course schedule and tuition bill, and, if applicable, detailed receipts for required textbooks. 
    • If applicable, gather required documentation for grants, scholarships, or other financial assistance being received that do not require repayment.
  • Fall application, complete the request by July 1; Spring application, complete the request by December 1. 
  • It is recommended that you discuss your plans with your leader before submitting the application. 
  • Upon submission, your application will be routed to your leader for approval. 
  • Once your leader approves your application, it will be sent to the HR Service Center for review and processing. 
  • Processing status and updates will be sent to your HSHS email and available in the Education Assistance portal.

How to Get Started

  1. Apply for your benefits through VA.gov or your military branch’s education office.
  2. Submit your Certificate of Eligibility or TA authorization to the Office of Financial Aid.
  3. Connect with our VA School Certifying Official to ensure your benefits are processed efficiently.

Work-Study Opportunities

A limited number of federal work-study positions may be available for eligible students. These roles offer part-time campus employment while helping you reduce reliance on loans.

  • Priority given to students with demonstrated financial need
  • Job openings are shared through campus email and bulletin boards

How to Get Started with Work-Study 

Work-study eligibility is determined through your FAFSA. If you're interested, contact the Dean of Students to express your interest. Job opportunities are shared by email or posted on campus.
