When Aid is Applied to Your Account

Financial aid is posted to student accounts no earlier than 10 days after the start of the semester, once your file is complete, you are enrolled at the required credit level, and all required loan documents (MPNs) are signed. Aid is applied only to the term in which it was awarded.

Refunds & Overpayments

If your financial aid exceeds your tuition and fee charges, you may receive a refund.

  • Refunds are issued after the 10th day of class, once aid is disbursed and charges are covered
  • Refunds are processed as direct deposit or check

Important Note on Institutional Scholarships/Grants

  • Institutional aid is limited to direct costs only. It can be applied to tuition, mandatory fees.
  • Institutional aid will never exceed your direct charges or create a cash refund. If your total aid package (excluding the Federal Pell Grant and any federal student loans you borrow) later covers all direct costs, the College will reduce or remove institutional aid so that your billed charges are not overpaid.
  • Examples of “other aid” that could trigger a reduction include private scholarships, employer tuition assistance, external grants, Veterans benefits, WIOA funds, or state awards.
  • Any adjustment to institutional aid will appear on your student account, and you will receive an updated aid offer by email.

Please keep this policy in mind as you report outside scholarships or other resources to the Financial Aid Office.
